A women’s wing leader from Dhanbad in Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jharkhand unit has accused Baghmara MLA Dullu Mahto of sexual harassment, according to several local media reports.
The woman reportedly also attempted self-immolation citing inaction by the party and the police even after she filed an FIR on October 31.
State co-ordinator and social media cell in-charge for Jharkhand Congress Mayur Shekhar Jha has tweeted a video, in which the woman can be seen crying inconsolably. She is seen accusing the MLA of touching her inappropriately on her cheeks and waist, and molesting her in his office.
The tweet said: “#MeToo moment for Jharkhand BJP. Rather tragic. Party’s women wing leader attempted self immolation. Made serious sexual harassment allegations on MLA Dullu Mahto, considered close to CM @dasraghubar But true to its character, entire state machinery is now all out to silence her.”

“This is my first warning. Give me justice or I will go to the chief minister’s office. My third warning will be in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the woman can be seen saying in the video.
The MLA has, however, denied the allegations and said that a conspiracy was being hatched against him.
According to a local media report, the woman has also said that she and her husband have been continuously getting death threats.
