Kaithal, December 24: A youth of Prempura village near here, working at an auto service centre, has complained to the police that three persons, including a woman, had duped him of Rs 5.34 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Italy.
Surjit stated in his complaint that he also worked part time as a property dealer with former Sarpanch Balwainder Singh in Kaithal. Surinder, also of Prempura village, used to come to Balwinder’s place regularly. In June 2018, Devinder Kaur and Sonu of his village told the victim that Surinder sends men to Italy and other countries by arranging visa and work permit for them. Devinder, Sonu and Surinder, in the presence of Balwinder Singh, promised to send Surjit to Italy on work permit. He claimed that he paid them Rs 5.34 lakh by cheque but the accused failed to send him abroad. When he demanded his money back, he was threatened of dire consequences. Investigation Officer ASI Raghbir Singh said the Siwan police had booked the three accused under Sections 34, 406, 420 and 506 of the IPC and started investigations.
