Kurukshetra, December 24: The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has supported the demand of former minister Venod Sharma and president of the Haryana Janchetna Party (HJP) to extend reservation benefits to Brahmins, Bania and dominant castes.
State INLD president Ashok Arora said in the changed socio-economic circumstances, the economically underprivileged communities should also be considered for reservation.
Arora said members of the Brahmin, Bania, Rajput and Punjabi communities had less than five acres of farmland and a sizeable section of these castes had no landholdings.
The INLD leader said most of Haryana population had an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh and irrespective of their castes, they all deserve reservation.
At a rally in Pipli near here on Sunday, Sharma had batted for reservation on the economic conditions. Businessman-cum-politician had also announced to support a legal battle to cover Brahmins and other dominant castes under the reservation policy.
The INLD also seconded Sharma’s demand to ensure jobs for the state youths in the private sector.
Arora said the entrepreneurs enjoy susubsidies and other incentives for establishing businesses in Haryana but jobs in most such establishments were taken by youths outside Haryana.
