The CID has launched several warning guidelines to protect the citizens from falling in the trap of the momo game challenge. They are also planning to spread awareness by using the social media. The game is slowly making its way in West Bengal.
A person from West Bengal already became victim of this game and died. The game has
enterred Kurseong, South Dinajpur, Beldanga, Jalpaiguri, Mahishadal and Kolkata.
The CID has started investigation too. But now the CID has become active in curbing
this menace.
DIG CID Nishad Pervez said, “The investigation into the momo game has begun. But we are also asking the common people to be safe. They must ignore unknown links. On receiving such links, one must immediately inform the police. The police will take necessary steps.”
A complainant said, “An unknown link came to my mobile suddenly. By clicking on on the link, a mummy’s image appeared on my phone. Then only I understood that I was being targeted in this dangerous game. Without any delay, I went to the police. The police immediately started an investigation.”
The Cyber department of CID has given several advice to the common people. They are:
1. Ignore any unknown links that come to your mobile.
2. Think and then make posts in social media.
3. Be aware before posting status updates on social media.
4. Keep changing the passwords of your e-mail id or any other social IDs.
5. Immediately contact the police if you find anything suspicious.
6. Immediately block any unknown or suspicious links.
