Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was campaigning for the BJP in Rajasthan assembly election on Monday. At an election rally in Makrana, Yogi Adityanath said that 26/11 terror attacks happened in Mumbai because the Congress served biryani to terrorists.

Yogi Adityanath also accused the Congress of resorting to divide and rule politics to gain power. He said, “The Congress has done divisive politics. As a result of that, terrorism was at its peak in the country.”

“Today you can see that the terrorists who were fed biryani by the Congress are now being fed bullets by us,” Yogi Adityanath said.

It was exactly 10 years ago that 10 Pakistani gunmen infiltrated into Mumbai through sea route and attacked various high-profile locations. A total of 175 people were killed including nine terrorists in 26/11 attacks. The tenth anniversary of 26/11 attacks was observed on Monday.

Interestingly, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had said during the trial of Ajmal Kasab – the lone Pakistani terrorist captured alive – that he demanded biryani while he was in a Mumbai jail. Later, Nikam said that he fabricated the story as a diversionary tactic.

Clarifying the air, Nikam had said, “Kasab never demanded biryani and was never served by the government. I concocted it just to break an emotional atmosphere which was taking shape in favour of Kasab during the trial of the case.”

Kasab was found guilty in 26/11 case and was awarded death sentence, which was upheld by the Supreme Court. He was hanged in November 2012.
