Chandigarh, December 25: The local police have arrested a 36-year-old man, who is also wanted by the Himachal Police, for possessing a country-made revolver and five cartridges.
He has been identified as Parmod Kumar, a resident of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh.
Police officials said they had information that a person, who was involved in a case of dacoity and was released on parole, did not return to jail. He was staying at his sister’s house in Maloya. The police claimed that acting on the information, they nabbed the accused at a naka. The police recovered a .32 bore revolver and five cartridges from the accused.
The police said the revolver recovered by them was manufactured at an ordinance factory in UP.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at the Maloya police station.

The police said the accused had five cases registered against him. While two cases of dacoity were registered in Himachal Pradesh, one case of dacoity and two of burglary were registered in Chandigarh.
