Nepal: Seven Dead as Bus Collides Head-on With Truck, Plunges Onto Banks of Trishuli River

At least seven persons were killed and 17 others are injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-3 of Chitwan district on Friday afternoon. The injured, including an Indian national, have been rushed to the hospital.

As per Chitwan Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhu Prasad Dhakal, five persons died on the spot whereas, the other two lost their lives while being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Those deceased include one child, two women and four women. Their identities are yet to ascertained.

In total, 22 passengers have been rescued till now. Meanwhile, the rescue operation is underway.

Reports suggest that the bus (Na 6 Kha 2506) was enroute to Pokhara from Kathmandu when it collided head-on with a truck (Na 5 Kha 7409). As a result of the collision, the bus plunged 100 meters down onto the bank of Trishuli River. The bus was reportedly carrying 29 passengers.
