Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday requested people to maintain calm and not to pay heed to rumours over Article 35-A which is listed for hearing in the Supreme Court on August 31.
A police spokesman clarified that the main hearing on Article 35-A is listed for August 31. He took exception to some sections of the media circulating wrong news on the legislation.
“Confusion has been created about listing of the Article 35A case in the Supreme Court for today. In this regard, let me clarify that it is a fresh case filed with regard to Article 35A which has been listed at S. No 10 before Chief Justice. This has nothing to do with the original case pending in SC which may be listed for 31st though the exact date would be made public on Tuesday. Probably this new case may also be clubbed with the petition filed by RSS backed NGO “we the citizens”.”
The government counsel in the Supreme Court Shoeb Alam told Greater Kashmir that the main hearing is on August 31.
He said: “It is a fresh petition coming up for hearing for admission. The bunch of petitions challenging Article 35A is likely to be listed for hearing on August 31.”
