Non-local Beacon official killed in army ambush in north Kashmir’s Kupwara

Kupwara: A non-local Beacon official was killed during an army ambush in Chowkibal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

A police official told that an ambush was laid by the army in Sayedaan Pathra Kakva Gali Kralpora.

“Ambush was laid by army in Sayedaan Pathra Kakva Gali Kralpora in which a non-local beacon official was killed,” he said, adding they are ascertaining the rest of the details.

Initial reports suggest that the deceased was not a resident of Kashmir. “His identity is being ascertained,” said the official.

Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said they were ascertaining the details.

Beacon is a project of the Border Roads Organisation which develops and maintains roads in the border districts of India.
