Srinagar, October 27: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel was killed in a militant attack on the outskirts of Srinagar on Friday night.

Police said the ASI of CISF was critically wounded in an encounter which took place at the grid station Wagoora in Nowgam area.

“The ASI sustained bullet injuries,” a police spokesman said, adding that the attack was successfully repulsed by the alert sentry at the spot.
The injured ASI was evacuated to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the spokesman said.

He has been identified as Rajendra Prasad.

Soon police and CRPF rushed to the area to trace the attackers.

Sources said militants took advantage of the darkness and fled the spot. Security forces also carried out searches in the neighbouring localities.

Since Wednesday 10 militants and three security men have been killed in Kashmir.
