JMC organises sanitation drives at heritage sites

JAMMU: In continuation to Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, the Jammu Municipal Corporation undertook sanitation drives for cleaning the Heritage sites viz Mubarak Mandi Complex and Bahu Fort, Jammu. During the drive, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Arvind Kotwal alongwith others Officers and field staff of the Corporation cleaned the whole area of Mubarak Mandi Complex including Dewan-e-Aam Park as well as Bahu Fort upto Kali Mata Temple.

In the drive, local residents also joined hands with JMC staff in the cleaning the heritage and tourist sites on World Tourism Day. Further, Nukkad Natak was also organised at Raghunath Bazar Chowk in association with JKTDC.

The Nukkad Natak was presented by volunteers of Meri Pehchan Club (NGO) for creating awareness among the general masses for educating them about the importance of cleanliness which is next to Godliness. Earlier JMC, under the campaign, conducted awareness-cum-cleanliness drives at Durga Nagar, Sabzi Mandi, Parade and various areas of the city.

A special programme on Solid Waste Management and Waste Segregation was organized wherein all the representatives of resident welfare associations were invited and demonstrations were given regarding managing and segregating waste at source i.e, household level.

Commissioner JMC said that it is the duty of every citizen to extend their helping hands to JMC in Swachhta campaign and also play an active role at their individual levels.

Among others Pardeep Singh, Joint Commissioner (A), Sunaina Sharma, Secretary, Vinakshi Koul, General Manager, JKTDC, Prabodh Sharma, Executive Engineer (C), Arun Gupta, Executive Engineer (T), Dr. Saleem Khan Health Officer, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Talat Mehmood Khan, AEE (Transport), Amitabh Manhas, AEE (Mech.), sanitation officers, revenue officers, staff of Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society, staff of Tourism Department Jammu, staff of the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Raghunath Bazaar Shopkeepers Association participated in the sanitation drives and Nukkad Natak.
