Dr Samoon expresses displeasure over delay in construction of sheds at Loorkot, Thathri

Imposes penalty on executing agency

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 27: Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Transport Department Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today took a comprehensive review of the departmental activities during a meeting here at Civil Secretariat.

Dr Samoon took stock of ongoing and pending works of repair/construction related to these departments. Director Sheep Husbandry informed the chair that construction of sheep shed at Loorkot and Thathri with an estimated cost of 66 lakhs each is still pending.  He said that more that 22 lakhs have been released for the work but the executing agency has not initiated the work.

The senior officer from Animal Husbandry informed the chair that 41.30 lakhs has been released to complete the Veterinary Hospital at Katra.

While taking the review, Dr Samoon expressed displeasure on the incomplete projects and decided to impose 2% penalty on the executing agency from the date they were supposed to complete the project. Ha said that strict action will be taken and 2% penalty will be levied on the executing agencies if they failed to complete the project in the stipulated time then.

He emphasized upon the officers and field functionaries to work with dedication and honestly to improve the productivity of livestock in the state so that better results of the various schemes can be achieved.

Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu Sanjeev Kumar, Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Dr MY Chaproo along with other senior officers of Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Finance, Law, Planning, NABARD and PWD (R&B) were present in the meeting.
