10 foreigners among 16 trekkers missing in Himachal’s Pangi area

Sixteen trekkers, including 10 foreign nationals, are reported missing in Pangi area of Chamba district.

As per information on September 17, a group of about 16 persons, including 10 foreign Nationals (Nationality not known as yet), three Nepali and three persons of Lahul and Spiti district, arrived at Hiltwan in the jurisdiction of Police Post Purthi (PS Pangi).

On September 18, they all proceeded towards Tharu Nala along with 17 local porters and stayed for the night there.

The next day, they proceed on their journey towards Bhujpatra Range Dhar and stayed there but all local porters came back to Hiltwan.

As per the statement of porters, they advised them to come to their location again on September 29, to receive them for their return journey to Hiltwan.

DIG (Kangra range) Atul Fulzele said the local porters were sent towards Bhujpatra Range Dhar on Saturday morning to trace the trekkers.

He said they would reach at Hiltwan on September 30 or October 1.

Local porters also intimated that the trekkers had sufficient food material and medicines.

A team of policemen, local porters and mountaineering experts have also gone in search of the missing trekkers, the DIG said.
