Chandigarh, December 28: A group of youths allegedly attacked the social media in-charge of the Youth Congress with sharp weapons in Sector 46 this evening. The victim, Vinayak Bangia, was attacked when he, along with his two friends, had gone to have pizza in Setcor 46.
Sources said around 15 persons, who were carrying sharp weapons and sticks, arrived at the spot and threatened the victim. They then attacked the victim and caught his friends.
The victim was thrashed after which the assailants escaped from the spot.
The police were informed about the incident. The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, Sector 45, from where he was referred to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16.
The sources said the victim had an altercation with one of the suspects around two years ago and they were holding a grudge against him.
The assailants, some of whom were identified by the victim, are residents of Phase XI, Mohali.
The victim provided their names to the police.
Police officials said they had received a complaint and initiated an investigation into the matter at the Sector 34 police station.
