KARGIL, MAY 30: In connection with the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Kargil today organized a district-level multilingual ‘Hamdia Naatia Mushaira’ at Language Centre here today.
Around 20 poets from different parts of the district described the virtues of the holy month by rendering their poetic compositions in Urdu, Shina Dardi, Balti and Purgi languages.
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was the chief guest while as Executive Councillor for Agriculture Mohammad Hussain and Chief Education Officer Muhammad Mussa were the guest of honour and special guest respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEC appreciated Cultural Academy Kargil for having organized the literary event. He expressed hope that men of letters can play a greater role in bringing positive changes in society. Kacho said that the holy month of Ramadan preaches self-control, tolerance and patience and is an annual strengthening of one’s inner personality.
EC Agriculture Mohammad Hussain in his speech complimented the Academy for organizing such poetic symposia from time to time thereby giving a fillip to literary activities in the district.
Eminent poet and writer Haji Abdul Hamid Tanveer and State Awardee poet Haji Sadiq Ali Sadiq sat in the presidium while as poets who recited their compositions included Ghulam Ahmad Khan Jawan, Bashir Ahmad Wafa, Ghulam Qadir Zaki, Akbar Ali Khan Shaheen, Muhammad Shafi Sagar, Muhammad Hussain Fayaaz, Sajjad Ali Shujaat, Fida Hussain Wazir Fida, Muhammad Ali Babaa, Muhammad Ali Ashour, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Tsewang Rigzin, Nasiruddin Khafee, Zakir Hussain Karbalai, Sajjad Ali Shujaat and Mirza Mehdi Jaffary.
Earlier, Special Officer for Cultural Activities G-1 Kargil Nazir Hussain welcomed the dignitaries, poets and the audience.
Among others, officers from the Civil Administration, writers, poets and a jam-packed hall of literary enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
Bashir Ahmad Wafa conducted the proceedings while as Special Officer for Cultural Activities Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak delivered the vote of thanks.
