New Delhi: Subramanian Swamy on Friday lashed out at Navjot Singh Sidhu, a day after he denied knowing Khalistani terrorist Gopal Singh Chawla. Demanding his arrest under National Security Act (NSA), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, “Then you say that I’ve nothing to do with Khalistan and condemn it. But he should be investigated by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and arrested under National Security Act.”

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday denied knowing Gopal Singh Chawla, a Khalistani terrorist with whom a picture of his went viral on social media earlier on Thursday. He added that there were thousands of pictures clicked of him/with him, and he could not possibly keep account of every one of them. After returning to India from his Pakistan visit, Sidhu said, “There were probably 5-10,000 pictures taken of and with me there (in Pakistan), I don’t know who is Gopal Chawla.”

He also spoke about strengthening ties between the two nations and said it was high time that India and Pakistan work towards improving relations. The Congress minister further said that both the countries should keep aside trivial matter and talk about the matter, adding, “mountains can be moved if people agree to talk”.

Notably, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu landed in controversy after a photo of him posing with Gopal Singh Chawla was uploaded on social media by the latter. Chawla, a senior leader of Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (PSGPC), is known as a pro-Khalistan voice. His involvement is also suspected in the recent attack on a Nirankari gathering in Amritsar in which three persons were killed. His presence at Kartarpur corridor event came as a last-minute surprise for India.
