New Delhi: A woman allegedly bit off the finger of a sweeper for walking past her house in the national capital. The bizarre crime dates back to Monday and was reported from Mandir Marg area.

The Mandir Marg police registered a case against the accused, identified as Sarita, on Wednesday. She has been booked under IPC Section 326 (volutarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means).

In her complaint, Usha told the cops that Sarita stopped her while she was walking past her house to reach the adjacent lane, after finishing sweeping one block. The accused reportedly asked her to take another lane. This led to a quarrel between the two women.

As the arguement turned worse, Sarita reportedly grabbed Usha’s wrist and bit her ring finger. She continued to chew on it and bit it off, the victim was quoted as saying in a report by The Times of India.

Usha is currently undergoing a treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. Meanwhile, the police have launched a probe into the matter. The CCTV footage from the area is being scanned and accused woman is also being interrogated.
