JAMMU, DECEMBER 29: Asserting that holistic development is fundamental to students’ character building, Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganaitoday said that schools must focus on character building and all-round education not as an alternative to academic curriculum but as an essential part of student’s life.
Advisor said this during annual day celebration of Sainik School Nagrota (SSN) where he presided as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Advisor complimented the Principal, staff and cadets on this momentous occasion and lauded the uniqueness of training imparted by the school. The Advisor lauded the efforts of the school management for preparing the boys academically, physically and psychologically for entry into the National Defense Academy or other walks of life.
Character, team spirit, dedication to purpose, patriotic outlook and a desire to serve the people with zeal and efficiency are the qualities sought to be promoted by the training at the school, the Advisor maintained.
He also complimented the cadets for highlighting unity in diversity in a subtle manner by way of presenting cultural programme.
He appreciated the students for their immense talent and willingness to produce such fine performances. He also praised the faculty for an excellent academic performance.
The Advisor assured all support from the Governor’s Administration for the development and welfare of students and the institution.
Highlighting the role of teachers and parents, the Advisor said that both parents and teachers have equal responsibility to nurture the future of children according to modern day trends and needs so that they keep pace with the fast-growing technologies.
Principal CaptAMuthuraman, presented the School Annual Report highlighting various activities, achievements and also the infrastructural developments of the school during the Academic Session.
Earlier, an impressive ceremonial Guard of Honour, led by Cadet Chetanya Bhat, was presented on the occasion.
A grand cultural extravaganza was organized on the theme ‘Journey through SSN’ wherein the young cadets of the school presented wide range of cultural items showcasing the evolution of cadets in the school.
The cadets also presented heartwarming recital of the award-winning number ‘A Million Dreams’ by the English Choir, a skit, a medley of songs representing diverse cultural background.
An English play, ‘Pakbeth’ conceptualized by the Principal and scripted by the English Faculty elicited great awe and admiration of one and all.
The programme concluded with a grand finale in which over 150 cadets put up a spirited performance.
The Advisor presented medals to winners of various competitions and awarded the Champions Trophy to Trikuta House.
Faculty members, students, parents witnessed the grand stage show followed by presentation of academic awards to meritorious cadets.
