Fissures in the BJP came to the fore at a meeting of the MC General House today after some councillors, led by former Mayor Arun Sood, targeted Mayor Davesh Moudgil for not approving the agenda related to the development of his ward.

Though groupism among councillors owing allegiance to BJP city unit president Sanjay Tandon and the ones with MP Kirron Kher was seen at previous meetings also, this time both groups have come out openly against each.

The meeting witnessed a ruckus after Chandrawati Shukla of the BJP threw dirty water collected from houses in her ward on the floor. Shukla alleged that despite raising the issue of contaminated water time and again in the House, no action had been taken by the authorities.

The chaos in the House increased after some nominated councillors objected to the behaviour of elected councillors.

When Shukla threw dirty water on the floor, the MC Commissioner raised an objection, saying that no one had the right to  damage public property.

Congress councillor Devinder Singh  Babla  condemned the “attitude” of BJP councillors saying that  the differences  between  the  rival factions of the BJP had started affecting the functioning of the  MC. He said one group of the  BJP was playing the role of the opposition,  which  had never  been seen before.

The chaos started soon after the meeting started. Rajesh Kalia, BJP councillor, sought the  details of the purchase of vehicles for door-to-door collectors and questioned how the  agenda was prepared  without providing the  details.
