15 kg explosives recovered from bus at Jammu bus stand

Jammu, October 1: Fifteen kilograms of explosives were recovered from a bus near the Jammu bus stand.

The bus was coming from Billawar Tehsil of Kathua district. The bag full of explosives was given to the conductor of the bus in Bilawar.

Acting on a specific input, security forces stopped the bus near Jammu bus stand at KC Road and conducted thorough checking. A bag full of explosives was found. One suspect was also detained for questioning.

Earlier reports had emerged that a suspicious object, purportedly an explosive, was found in a bus at the Jammu bus stand.

Earlier this year, a teenager was killed and 32 others were injured in a grenade attack by suspected terrorists in the crowded general bus stand area in the heart of Jammu city in March. It was the third grenade attack by terrorists in Jammu bus stand since May last year.

Terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen was behind the March Jammu bus stand attack. A teenage suspect arrested for throwing a grenade at the Jammu bus stand confessed to interrogators that an overground worker of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit paid him Rs 50,000.
