New Delhi, April 2: BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday justified spending public funds on installing her own statues. She said “her statutes represents will of the people”.

She has filed an affidavit in response to the Supreme Court asking her to clarify her position on the issue.

The top court had earlier said it was of the “tentative view” that Mayawati should pay up for statues of herself and elephants – BSP poll symbol – in various memorials in Uttar Pradesh.
