Arms Seized From Local BJP Leader’s Son In Madhya Pradesh

A case has been registered against Sanjay Yadav, under the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act

Bhopal:  The Madhya Pradesh police have recovered arms and ammunition, as part of a joint action. Ahead of the national election, the police is running a special campaign during which raids were conducted in Badwani district.

The police recovered 10 pistols, 111 cartridges and 17 bombs from local strongman Sanjay Yadav’s house ins Sendhwa.

A case has been registered against Mr Yadav under the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act. Mr Yadav,  who is missing, has several criminal cases against him.

Sanjay Yadav’s mother, Basanti, is a local-level BJP leader and is also the president of Sendhwa municipality.

The arms seized include six pistols of 9 mm, two pistols of 32 bore and two pistols of 7.62 mm, senior police officer Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia said.

“The weapons were found in a big box in an almirah on the roof of the house. We are investigating why the weapons were stored. We have registered a case against the accused under different sections of the arms and explosive substance act,” Ms Bhutia said.

According to the Election Commission, after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for he Lok Sabha election, liquor, cash and narcotics, worth Rs 7.60 crore were confiscated in Madhya Pradesh till March 25.

In the past, illegal weapons possessed by criminals Jitu Yadav, Sagar, Asif and Nadeem were also seized.

The police has taken action against all the accused under the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
