DC Raina appointed Advocate General

Jammu, November 2: The Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir G C Murmu on Friday appointed DC Raina, senior advocate as the Advocate General for the UT of J&K.

“In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 79 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 (Act No.34 of 2019), the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint DC Raina, Senior Advocate as the Advocate General for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” said Anchal Sethi, Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, in an order issued today.

Raina will be entitled to monthly remuneration of Rs 1 lakh, rent-free accommodation in Jammu and Srinagar for his residential purposes and will get official car without any charges.

He will be paid Rs 5,000 for each contested writ petition, appeal, suit, civil appeal which he conducts on behalf of the UT before the High Court and Rs 50,000 per effective hearing and Rs 5,000 per non-effective hearing for appearance of the cases before the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and other courts and tribunals outside the UT.

He will also be entitled to Rs 50,000 per conference of the cases before the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court, Rs 10,000 per effective hearing and Rs 3,000 per non-effective hearing for arbitration matters within the UT, Rs 25,000 per effective hearing and Rs 5,000 per non-effective hearing for arbitration matters outside the UT.

The headquarters of the Advocate General will, unless otherwise directed by the government, be the same headquarters of the High Court and he shall be provided security by the Home Department as per requirement.
