3 cops among 6 booked for fraud

Panchkula, April 2: The local police have booked six persons, including two head constables and an assistant sub-inspector, for allegedly duping a Jind resident of Rs 12 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs to two youths.

Joginder Singh, a resident of Jind, in his complaint to the police, said he came in contact with Jasbir Singh, a resident of Nada Sahib village, Sector 31, through one of his brothers, who was into property business. He said Jasbir had taken Rs 12 lakh on May 5, 2016, on the pretext of providing jobs to his son and nephew on the post of clerk in the Haryana Assembly. He said Jasbir gave him cheques in exchange stating that if he could not provide the jobs, he could encash the cheques.

He said Jasbir’s brother Jaswinder Singh Gujjar and Surinder Singh, both head constables, Chander Singh, ASI, Rajpal Premi, a resident of Rasulpur village in Kaithal district, and Anand Kumar were also with him when he paid them the money. He said the suspects also took a buffalo worth Rs 3 lakh from him.

Joginder said after this, the suspects gave them a roll number of a fake Haryana Assembly exam and asked his son and nephew to appear for the exam.

He alleged that the suspects continued to assure him that the work would be done. He said later, he came to know that Jasbir Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Chander Singh and Anand Kumar had gone to Thailand on a week’s tour and used the money there.
