Youth injured in clashes near gunfight site in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar,May 3: A youth was injured in clashes with the security forces near the site of a gunfight in Adkhara village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Reports said that Mudasir Ahmad, a resident of Wuyan village of Imam Sahab area suffered a bullet injury in his leg following which he was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Earlier, the killing of two militants during a gunfight with the security forces in triggered violent protests in Adkhara.

Reports said that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces near the gunfight site in Adkhara village. The forces, they said, responded by firing live ammunition and tear gas.

An official said two militants were killed in a gunfight in Adkhara early today after the army, police and the CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area.

He said the identity of the slain militants was being ascertained.
