Shopian, May 3 : Two militants were killed and an army soldier wounded in an ongoing gunfight at a village in south Kashmir’s poll bound Shopian district on early Friday morning.

A police official said the militants opened fire on the forces from a residential house during a cordon and search operation in Aadkhara village of Imam Sahab area of the district.

He said that the fire was immediately returned, leading to an encounter in which two militants were killed. Their identity was not known immediately.

The firing had stopped when this report was being filed. The official said that there are reports of third militant killing as well. “The report was being verified,” he said.
