The directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) has ordered suspension of teachers and headmasters of schools which have shown zero percent performance in just announced class 10th results.
“The department will stop increment of the teachers having below 50 percent result in their respective subjects,” reads a circular issued by director school education Kashmir G N Itoo.
The department has also decided to deploy poor performing teachers for remedial classes in their respective schools during winter vacations to prepare the students for their supplementary exams to be held by JK Board of School Education (BOSE) in coming February.
“All arrangements on account of remedial classes will be done by concerned teachers who have produced poor results,” the circular reads, adding the principals of the concerned district institute of education and training (DIETs) will monitor progress and functioning of remedial teaching in schools and submit weekly report to the directorate.
Itoo said the department is yet to get details of schools from JKBOSE which have produced zero percent or below 20 percent results.
“List has not been prepared but I have asked concerned CEOs to take action as per directions issued in the circular,” he said.
An official said names of the schools with zero percent results will be submitted to the directorate following which action will be taken against the headmasters. “The CEOs are not authorized to suspend school headmasters,” he said.
The result of class 10th was declared by JKBOSE on December 29. As per the BOSE figures, around 55472 students – 28636 boys and 26836 girls had appeared in the exams out of which 38939 students were declared qualified.
