Militants lob grenade at army camp in north Kashmir’s Bandipora

Militants on Friday night hurled a grenade at an army camp in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An official said that the militants hurled a grenade at the army’s 5 RR camp located opposite Sumbal degree college but it exploded outside the camp.

“As the army heard the bang, they fired several rounds in retaliation. There was, however, no loss of life or damage to the property in the incident,” he said.

He said that the area was cordoned off soon after the attack.

Superintendent of police Bandipora, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad said that army men fired several rounds after the blast.

“We have sent a police party to the area to ascertain the details, ” he said.
