A joint teams of 7 NDRF, Government of India led by Mr Ravinder Kumar, Inspector and Chandigarh UT Fire officer Mr Navin Kumar demonstrated life saving techniques to
forty five participants including 34 women all teaching in the Universities and Colleges from all over India. They are attending the refresher course in Disaster Management at UGC-HRDC, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The two team leaders made detailed separate presentations and then carried out Mock Drills to demonstrate the usage of several instruments used in the life saving efforts. All the 45 particpating candidates will now be considered for future intensive training to act
community leaders to dissiminate information about life saving during the incidents of fire, earthquakes and flood.
Professor Krishna Mohan is coordinating the course. Panjab University security staff also were present during demonstration in large number. Signigicantly, Panjab University runs a Masters Degree as well as a Diploma course in Diaster Management . Professor Ashutosh Kumar and Dr Jayanti Datta of HRDC also attended the drills along with University security staff.
