Tral gunfight: Two militants killed, civilian wounded

Two militants were killed and a civilian injured in a gunfight between the militants and the government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday, reports said.

Quoting official sources, news agency reported that two militants were killed in Mir Mohalla after forces blasted the house and razed it to the ground today morning.

A police spokesman confirmed the killing of two militants. “So far we have recovered two bodies of militants along with two AK-47 rifles,” said the officer.

A police spokesman, in a statement, identified the slain as Adfar Fayaz Parray son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray resident of Gulshanpora Tral and Irfan Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather resident of Shariefabad Tral.

A civilian, identified as Farooq Ahmad (45) was injured during the gunfight. He was rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

The gunfight, according to reports, began today morning after fresh contact was established with the militants who had exchanged fire last night too.

An officer said the operation was suspended last night due to darkness but was resumed at the crack of dawn today.
