Education vital for development of society, efforts afoot for improving its quality: Advisor Sharma
Attends annual day of Lawrence Public School
JAMMU, DECEMBER 05: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today maintained that education is vital for development of any society and sustained efforts should be made for improving quality of teaching and learning methods.
The Advisor was speaking at the 12th annual day function of Lawrence Public School (LPS) which was attended by a galaxy of intellectuals, academicians and senior civil servants.
Danesh Rana, IG Armed J&K Police and Davinder Rana, former MLA Nagrota were guest of honours.
While highlighting the importance of quality education, he said that it is vital for holistic development of the students.
The school education department and the educational institutes whether in the government or private sector should synergize their efforts in ensuring best education to the students, the Advisor said.
The Advisor while referring to the Right to Education Act said that Jammu and Kashmir needs to match the global best practices in the education sector and the government has already set the path by introducing new reforms through several schemes and initiatives in this sector.
While complementing the school management, the Advisor said that this Institute has set new standards for quality education and extra-curricular activities which need to be maintained and upgraded on a sustained basis.
Scintillating and educative programme was presented by the students of the school which included an Opera “Maa” paying tributes to motherhood. A special tribute was paid to the Founder Principal Mrs. Shakuntla Joshi and a documentary on her life time achievements was showcased. A special skit was also presented to showcase the importance of Maa Boli, encouraging people to speak their native mother tongue at home while giving due respect to other languages also.
The vote of thanks was presented by Manish Joshi, Managing Director Lawrence Public School. Wg. Cdr (retd.), MM Joshi, Chairman LPS was also present on the occasion.
