The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday targeted each other’s posts and villages with mortars along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that artillery shells were fired from across the de-facto border in Kalal area of Nowshera sector, triggering panic among the residents.
Locals said that from heavy exchange of fire and shelling is going on since 10:30 am. They said that several shells landed in the civilian areas.
An army spokesman said the Pakistan violated the ceasefire at around 10:30 AM by firing artillery shells in Nowshera and Sunderbani sectors.
“The Indian army is retaliating strongly and effectively,” he said.
