Srinagar: Residents and truck drivers on Saturday held a protest in Batengoo area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district against the alleged thrashing of a driver by the army.

The protesters, including men and women, alleged that the army men thrashed a truck driver, namely Yawar Ahmad Malik, a resident of Melhoora Sangam, without any reason.

The protesters blocked the road, demanding an end to what they termed as routine high-handedness of the forces on the highway.

Despite repeated attempts, the army couldn’t be reached for a comment.
