Srinagar, May 6 : Former legislator Er Rasheed on Monday staged a protest in Srinagar against the government over the jailing of separatist leaders and its failure to make Mughal road and other highways all-weather roads.
Rasheed who had assembled along with dozens of his supporters near Khalsa school marched towards the Jehangir Chowk flyover where he addressed the reporters.
Rasheed said that the money spent every year on the facelifting of the city roads and pavements should be spent on making Mughal road an all-weather highway.
He said there would be no need of having two separate capitals if there is an all-weather road connecting the Jammu division with Kashmir.
He also lashed out at the government over the jailing of separatist leaders, Yasin Malik and others. “Jailing of these leaders wouldn’t dampen the spirit of the Kashmiri people,” he said.
Rasheed also hit out at the government for its “failure” to book the policemen allegedly involved in the custodial death of school teacher Rizwan Pandith.
