Ambala, May 6:With 499 out of 500 marks, Divjot Kaur of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Ambala, has secured the joint first position in the CBSE Class X examination. The results were declared today.Daughter of property adviser Savinder Singh, a resident of Ambala Cantonment, she uses the Internet, but only to access study material. She is currently preparing for NEET/AIIMS entrance in Chandigarh and travels daily from Ambala to Chandigarh for her coaching. However, her ultimate aim is to be an IAS officer, but she wants to secure her career first.
She lost one mark in social science. Savinder said Divjot got a little upset after her mathematics exam and she thought that she had made some mistakes, but we were confident. We were expecting 98 to 99 per cent marks, but the first position has come as a surprise. Her mother Upinder Kaur is a housewife. Besides, three students, Priyanka, Rohan and Kaashvi Jain, of Ambala have secured the joint second position with 498 marks.
Priyanka, a student of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, lost two marks (one each in Hindi and social science. She aims to be an IAS officer. Priyanka said she was expecting around 98 per cent, but got more. On her study routine, she said, “I never followed a timetable, but used to set daily goals.”
Priyanka’s father Rohtash, a senior official in the Northern Railway, said he was really happy with the success of his daughter. Even her elder sister got 96 per cent marks in the Class XII examination, announced recently.
Kaashvi Jain of PKR Jain Public School gave the credit for her success to her teachers, parents and friends. She wants to be an engineer. Kaashvi lost one mark each in English and social science. Her father is a businessman.
Rohan of MM International School said, “I used to set daily goals and now I want to crack the IIT. Social media accounts must be avoided during studies.”
