New Delhi,May 7: TV actor Karan Oberoi who has been arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman and sent to police custody till May 9 broke down into tears during the court proceedings on Monday (May 6).
The complainant in her FIR has said that the actor not only raped her and filmed the act but also demanded money from her threatening to release the video if she did not pay up.
According to the woman, the Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahi actor was in a relationship with her since 2016 and he raped her on the pretext of marrying her.
An FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi. Karan and the woman met in 2016 via a dating app.
The woman had in October 2018 filed a non-cognisable complaint (NC) against the actor accusing him of using her financially, while Karan too filed a complaint against her for mental harassment ten days prior to her complaint, reports The Time of India.
Karan Oberoi started his career with Mahesh Bhatt’s TV show Swabhimaan wherein he was cast opposite Rinku Karamakar. He also starred in Saaya, Dishayen, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahi among other shows.
