SHOPIAN, MARCH 07: District Development Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmad today asked the regulating agencies to conduct regular checking and lift samples to plug supply of spurious fertilizers and pesticides into the district.
He was chairing a meeting to review stock, supply position of fertilizers and discuss measures to ensure quality check of the supplies.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Law Enforcement Officer, President Fruit Growers Association, President Pesticide dealers Association and president Zamindar Association.
The meeting discussed the mechanism of maintaining the supply & stock of quality fertilizers and pesticides to the farmers of the District.
He instructed concerned officers to remain vigilant and ensure sampling of the pesticides, fertilizers and promote use of organic manures to prevent entry of spurious material. He directed the Enforcement Inspectors to lift the samples of fertilizers and pesticides for quality checks and ensure that only good quality material is sold to the farmers.
On the occasion, a group of representatives of farmers projected their demand and sought provision for Soil testing van. He assured that the matter will be taken with concerned department.
