Chandigarh, May 7: “Dragging me mischievously in a case of which I am a prosecution witness proves that the BJP has already smelled defeat in the city. Hence, the party and its candidate Kirron Kher are trying desperate means to defame me,” said Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal while reacting to a news pertaining to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) having attached Rs 89.68 lakh seized from his nephew in a money laundering case.
Addressing mediapersons at the Congress Bhawan here, Bansal said, “Six years ago when I was the Union Railway Minister, the case filed against me by the CBI when I was the Union Railway Minister was blown out of proportion. For over eight hours continuously, I was interrogated by the CBI but nothing was found against me. On the contrary, I was made the prosecution witness in the case, acquitting me of all charges.”
“Had I got anything to do with that case, do you think the BJP government over the last five years would’ve spared me?” he added.
Kirron’s take
Whatever, whosoever has done will have to pay. If the Congress wins the elections, it doesn’t blame EVM but when it loses, it starts blaming the machine. When ED raids, the Congress calls it vendetta politics.— Kirron Kher, BJP candidate
