The Jammu and Kashmir police will take help of DNA profiling to identify the bodies of two militants completely charred during a gunfight in Pinglish area of Tral last night.

An official said the bodies of two militants charred beyond recognition were recovered from the site of the gunfight last night. Locals said the house in which the militants were hiding was razed to the ground by the forces.

He said their DNA samples have been taken to identify them.

Locals said that the father of Jaish commander Mudasir Khan and another family from Marhama are waiting outside the police station Tral where the bodies have been kept.

Srinagar-based army spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia in a statement yesterday said that three militants have been killed in the encounter.

He said that the operation is in progress.

However, the police said that only two bodies have been recovered so far from the gunfight site.
