Mohali, March 10: The police are yet to identify the person who allegedly threw the body of an elderly person in a deserted place near Pukhri village in Sadar Kharar after hitting him with his car at Sector 86 here on Friday.

The car driver had hit Mohali resident Om Parkash (66) with his car at Sector 86. He then took the victim, who sustained injuries, in his car reportedly to drop him at a hospital. He made a call to the victim’s son, Arvind, and told him about the incident and said he was taking his father to a hospital. Later, the body was found at a deserted place near Pukhri village in Sadar Kharar.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police HS Bhullar said police teams were sent to the spot for investigations today.

“The car driver had made the victim sit in his car to get him admitted to a hospital, but he might have died on the way after which the driver threw the body,” said the SSP.

He said the car driver was yet to be identified. “We have got some clues on the basis of which we are investigating the case. We are also scrutinising the CCTV footage of cameras installed at various places on the possible route taken by the car driver,” said the SSP.

The police will also collect the mobile call dump of certain areas to get further clues to identify the car driver.

The police have registered a case under Sections 304, 201 and 279 of the IPC at the Sohana police station.
