Lok Sabha polls: 35 percent votes polled till 1 pm in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: The government on Thursday said that 35.53 percent votes have been polled till 1:00 pm in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency

Baramulla: 15.1 percent; Kupwara: 30.8 percent; Bandipora: 20.9 percent

Jammu Parliamentary Constituency

Jammu: 45.9 percent; Samba: 52.1 percent; Rajouri: 44.8 percent; Poonch: 35.8 percent 

Polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections started at 7 am for the Baramulla seat.

Baramulla constituency will send a first time parliamentarian to the Lok Sabha as none of the nine candidates in the fray have earlier been elected to either Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.

Those in the fray include Muhammad Akbar Lone of National Conference, Farooq Ahmad Mir of Congress, Raja Aijaz Ali of People’s Conference, Mohammad Maqbool War of BJP, Jahangir Khan of NPP, Abdul Qayoom Wani of PDP and independent candidates Javid Ahmad Qureshi, Syed Najeeb Shah Naqvi and Abdul Rashid Sheikh.
