New Delhi, February 12: CBI’s M Nageswara Rao on Tuesday tendered an unqualified and unconditional apology in the Supreme Court in the Bihar shelter home cases.
The SC said Nageswara Rao was aware of the apex court directions that the CBI officer could not be transferred without its consent.
If this is not contempt of court then what is, the court said on the transfer of the CBI official probing the Bihar shelter home cases.
Earlier, Rao reached the Supreme Court to appear in connection with the contempt notice issued against him by the court for transferring the CBI officer probing the Bihar shelter home cases.
The court had issued the notice to Rao for transferring joint director AK Sharma out of the CBI.
Rao on Monday admitted that as interim chief of the CBI he committed a “mistake” in transferring Sharma and apologised to the top court, saying he had no intention to circumvent its orders.
Rao filed an affidavit in response to the contempt notice issued to him on February 7. PTI
