Baramulla/Jammu, April 11:An overall 57.31 per cent turnout was registered in J&K’s Baramulla and Jammu parliamentary constituencies in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections today even as the polling ended on a violent note with the killing of a Class VII boy.
Owais Ahmed Mir, 14, of Langate in frontier Kupwara district was killed in clashes after security personnel were attacked by locals soon after polling ended. “The boy suffered multiple pellet injuries in the skull, neck, chest and abdomen and was brought dead,” said the Medical Superintendent of Handwara sub-district hospital.
