Jammu, Jan 14: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has decided to open the traditional cave of the shrine from January 15 for the pilgrims.
Official sources said that old cave of Mata Vaishno Devi would be open from Monday (January 14) evening or from Tuesday (January 15).
Sources said as per past practice the administration felicitates darshan of around 10,000 pilgrims every year through the traditional cave. “If the number goes up, the other alternate cave is opened.”
“The SMVDSB has decided to keep open the natural (old) cave from 10 am to 4 pm and 10.30 pm to 5 am provided the pilgrim rush does not increase and water level inside the cave remains within the limits so that the pilgrims could have darshan easily.”
The months of January and February generally witness low rush due to extreme cold, as also due to the preparation for exams by the students.
The rush usually picks up in mid March, after maximum examination was culminated.
