Dr. Owais provides 16 Motorised Tricycles, 4 hearing aids to PWDs

SHOPIAN JUNE 13: District Social Welfare Office Shopian today organised a distribution camp for providing motorised tricycles and other prosthetic aids to Persons with Disabilities. The District Development Commissioner Shopian Dr. Owais Ahmad presided over the function.

Also present on the occasion were Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shahnawaz Shah, ExEn PDD Irshad Hussain, District Information Officer Showkat Ahmad Khan, DSWO Mohammad Shafait, TSWO Farhana Tak, official of the department and media persons of the district.

On the occasion, Development Commissioner Dr. Owais held detailed interactions with PWDs and called upon them to not let their disabilities to overcome their determination to succeed in life. He motivated them to avail the benefits entailed under various self employment schemes of Central and State Government.

The DSWO informed the DDC and other participants that presently the department is providing monthly pension of Rs 1000/month to 3100 DAPs involving annual expenditure of Rs 3. 72 Cr. “122 motorised tricycles, 32 hearing aids, 11crutches, 5 wheel chairs and 2 walking sticks have been provided to DAPs in last one and a half years,”he informed further.

A total of 16 motorised tricycles and 4 hearing aids were provided to the identified beneficiaries by the DDC Dr. Owais in the camp.
