Ludhiana: The police have arrested three more persons — Ajay Kumar alias Lalan and Saif Ali, both of Tibba area in Ludhiana, and a Class XI student — in connection with the gangrape of a 21-year-old college girl near Issewal village last Saturday.
DGP Dinkar Gupta said Lalan and Ali were nabbed from Talwandi Naubad village near Sidhwan Bet and the Class XI student from Basti Changran, Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. “All six suspects in the case have been arrested,” the DGP said. The police had arrested suspects Surmu, Sadik Ali and Jagroop Singh on Tuesday.
The DIG promised to expedite the probe so there was no delay in justice. He said the victim’s medical report confirmed rape and sexual assault. She had alleged she was raped by 10-12 persons. “Those arrested have confessed they were six of them. However, if anyone else is found involved in the crime, he too will be nabbed,” said the Jagraon SSP.
