BANDIPORA, MARCH 14: Around 161213 children of district Bandipora will be administered de-worming tablets on National De-worming Day scheduled on March 20.
The information was given here at a meeting convened to review the preparedness for the activities for National De-worming Day.
Additional District Development Commissioner Mohammad Yousuf Mir chaired the meeting.
Epidemiologist Dr Nabeel Ishtiyaq briefed the meeting about the action plan for the de-worming campaign and informed that 161213 children in the age group of 1 to 19 years enrolled in various schools and Anganwari centers will be given de-worming tablets free of cost in the district.
Officials informed that in the first phase starting from March 20, all schools, Anganwadi centres, and madrassas shall be covered for which Asha, Anganwari workers and teachers shall be deputed. It was informed that the mop program would continue till March 26 so that no child is left out.
The ADDC while highlighting the significance of the programme stressed on better coordination for the success of the campaign.
He stressed on the officials to give wide publicity to the program so that all parents ensure that their kids are provided this tablet at schools. He asked them to make use of all the available channels including print electronic and social media to create awareness about the program so that no child is left out.
District Social Welfare Officer Mohammad Altaf, District Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Snober Firdous, representatives of Education Department and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
