SRINAGAR: A prominent businessman from Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Shabir Ahmad Mir on Friday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mir, who was earlier associated with National Conference (NC), resigned from the party earlier this week. He joined the PDP in presence of its president Mehbooba Mufti at her Fairview residence in Gupkar, Srinagar.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir is presently under president’s rule. While the regional parties have appealed the central government to hold the assembly elections in the state, the Election Commission of India has not announced the dates as of yet.
