12th class student goes missing in north Kashmir, family holds protest

Jammu & Kashmir, May 16: Residents of Batpora on Thursday held a protest demonstration in Lolab area demanding whereabouts of a boy missing since last evening.

Reports said the protesters, including the family members of the missing youth, appealed to the police to speed up the efforts to trace 19-year-old Zakir Ahmad Bhat.

Bhat, a student of 12th standard, left his home in Batpora Lolab for Taraweh (night prayers) at 9 pm yesterday.

“He left from home as usual for nimaz, but he has not reached the Masjid and is missing from that time. We contacted all our relatives and friends but he is nowhere,” said his relative, Javed Ahmad.

Police reached at the spot and assured the protesters that they will take up the matter on priority basis. 

Missing report has been lodged in this regard at police station Lalpora, “We have taken up the investigation on a priority basis to trace the missing boy,” a police official said.
