Chandigarh, August 16: The son of a retired UT police sub-inspector was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of two sisters in Sector 22 here on Thursday.
He has been identified as Kuldeep.The two sisters, who had rented a place, were found murdered on Thursday afternoon. They had been living in the house for three years. Sharp-edged weapons were used in the crime, police said.
The victims were identified as Manpreet Kaur and Rajwant Kaur, natives of Fazilka district in Punjab. The two worked at a chemical factory in Zirakpur.
UT SSP Nilambari Jagdale who had reached the crime spot had said that the accused used both sharp and blunt weapons to murder the sisters.
“Names of a few suspects have cropped up during the investigation following which teams have been sent to their addresses to establish if they are involved,” the police had added.
